"I found the structure of the NPQH extremely well organised; blended learning which involves online units and a two-week deadline for the completion of each meant that I could plan study both during the week and at weekends - even allowing the odd weekend off!

No study course can ever reflect exactly what it's like to run a school, but I learnt a lot from the content. I gained a greater understanding of all elements of school leadership, from school finances, working with governors and vulnerable learners to successful implementation, professional development and resource management. 

Some of the content challenged my pre-conceived ideas, others reinforced that what I was doing worked but all of it was developed using contemporaneous research, which added to the reliability of what was taught.

By the end, I was not wanting the course to finish as I had settled into an established rhythm of research and response and on reflection. I've applied what I've learnt every day and shared it with colleagues; it's made me more confident as a practitioner and, I hope, a better leader as a result of what I learnt."
